The Heinkel Trojan began life as a microcar designed by Heinkel Flugzeugwerke in Germany under the name Heinkel Kabine. It was manufactured there between 1956 and 1958 before production was transferred under license to Dundalk Engineering Company in Ireland in 1958. However, the licence was short-lived due to poor quality control afterwards. Fortunately, Trojan Cars Ltd in the UK was granted the licence in 1960 to restart production of the car under the name Trojan 200 and produce it until 1966.
